Many states have approved online gambling and have enacted laws governing online betting. However, a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association reveals that only a handful of states have legalized Internet gambling. The two exceptions are Utah and Hawaii. Both states have large Mormon populations and have regulated gambling differently due to personal beliefs. In Hawaii, residents are particularly concerned about how gambling will affect their relationships and family life. Idaho is also an unlikely candidate for legalizing online gambling, but that does not mean that it is illegal in the state.
